Conservative Treatment
Treatment of caries
This is the part of dentistry dedicated to the treatment of teeth, seeking to preserve as much healthy dental material (enamel and dentin) as possible. It mainly consists of removing tissue affected by decay and replacing the missing parts with a coronal filling.
Rebuild the tooth
To reconstruct the tooth, it is possible to choose between two methods:
• The direct method, which consists of inserting composite resin (white filling) into the cavity and hardening it using a polymerization lamp. This method is advantageous because it is quick, simple, inexpensive and aesthetically pleasing.
• The indirect method consists of taking an impression of the cavity that we want to fill, then the dental technician makes the missing part of the tooth. The materials used are ceramic (or porcelain) or composite resin. The piece made by this technique is called an ‘inlay’. When the cavity is very large and requires the reconstruction of entire parts of the tooth, the term ‘onlay’ is used. This method offers the advantage of being precise, durable and aesthetically pleasing.
