Oral surgery and implantology

Our team has qualified implantology specialists who are here to listen to you and offer you the best solutions.

What are the treatments included in oral surgery?

The most common oral surgery procedure is tooth extraction, especially the extraction of wisdom teeth and other impacted (in the jawbone) or displaced teeth. Another important specialty is the placement of artificial dental roots, “dental implants”.

Oral surgery is also involved in the extraction of cysts in the oral cavity and in the structuring of the jaw bones (e.g. as a preparatory act for an implant). However, oral surgery can also be used as part of conservative dental treatment, in particular an apicoectomy, which saves a natural dental root after the failure of a root canal treatment.

Definition of a dental implant

A dental implant is a fully biocompatible titanium screw. It plays the role of an artificial root and replaces a missing tooth. It serves as a support for a ceramic crown, a bridge or as an anchor point for a removable dental prosthesis.

When to resort to dental implants?

Dental implants are an optimal solution to replace a missing tooth. Thus, for your comfort, aesthetic reasons and your oral health, we recommend implant placement in the following situations:

  • Replacing a lost tooth
  • Replacing several lost teeth (adjacent or not)
  • Avoiding wearing a removable prosthesis
  • Removing the palate of an upper prosthesis
  • Stabilizing a removable prosthesis that moves
